Well, I'm inclined to align with the authors/speakers she mentions in her article.
I've recently read more egalitarian views and no matter how convincing the arguments, they fail to answer one very important question: how is the relationship between men and women ~ specifically husbands and wives ~ able to physically demonstrate the relationship between Christ and the Church if our authority, responsibilities, and roles are equal and identical? It just doesn't work because that isn't true of Christ's relationship to the Church. There IS hierarchy. The Church doesn't lead Christ; Christ leads the Church. The Church doesn't make decisions for Christ (as much as they might try); Christ makes decisions for the Church. The Church didn't give itself up for Christ to purify Him and present Him blameless before God; that's what HE did for the Church. He was the only one ABLE to do that for the Church.
To me it looks like when God told Adam and Eve they could eat of ANY tree in the Garden of Eden except ONE and then that ONE became the one they desired most and well, we know what happened next. Why is it that when God says, "this ONE thing is not for you, my beloved women," is it the one thing we insist on fighting hardest for?
Submission is not primarily about division of tasks or even male-female relationships; it's about our attitude and our heart for God's leadership in our lives.
